Conversations Matter

When communities are affected by suicide

When a suicide occurs in a community, the effects can be far-reaching. Questions come up about who to tell and what to say. While the death should not be kept a secret, some consideration should be given to how it is talked about, with whom and in what setting.

If you or someone you know is experiencing emotional distress and needs support , there are several services that provide 24/7 support:

NT Mental Health Crisis Line: 1 800 682 288

Lifeline: 13 11 14

Kids Helpline: 1 800 55 1 800

Suicide Call Back Service: 1300 659 467

MensLine Australia: 1300 78 99 78
